James Robinson - Director

After ten years of working across multiple roles in the music industry, including: booking agent, tour manager, performer, promoter and videographer, James turned his focus to events in 2014. After a stint at Iris Worldwide working on experiential campaigns for brands such as BMW, Brita and Samsung, he moved in-house to deliver a range of experiences for UK homelessness charity, Shelter as part of their 50th Anniversary year (exhibitions, festival activations, concerts and cinema events).

Head-hunted by UK publisher, Penguin Random House in 2016, James headed up brand-led experiences as part of the in-house events team and achieved multiple company ‘firsts’ against a remit of reaching new audiences, expanding existing touch-points and promoting collaborative cross-pollination across the wider company.

In 2018, James moved to London-based agency Nibbs Events and in a very short space of time, picked up delivery experience on a global scale, working alongside the company founder on international red carpet events such as The Fashion Awards, Global Citizen Awards, and on film premieres including Mary Poppins Returns and The Lion King.

Utilising a trusted network of key suppliers and collaborative partners, James set up Nine Collective in 2020 with the sole purpose of being able to deliver quality events at scale, whilst also maintaining a creative agility that can allow a talented, small footprint core-team to flex up or down depending on client needs.

“If the last year has taught us anything, it is that the most important trait to possess in a changing event landscape is adaptability. There is no ‘one size fits all’ package for virtual, hybrid or live events in the current climate and so it has been amazing to plug in to an incredible pool of creative and technical resource to deliver solutions in some pretty challenging environments. We’re so fortunate to have such a skilled team of people on hand, and we’re incredibly optimistic about the future of event content in the ‘new’ world”.
